The Family Health Library supports the mission of Cook Children's by providing reliable health information and services to patients, families,and staff. 

What services are available in the Family Health Library?
Professional librarians provide understandable, up-to-date information about health issues, diagnoses, treatments, and care. A personalized information packet is assembled and delivered to the patient's room, mailed to home, or sent via email or a patient portal message. Staff can request information for families by ordering a Library Consult/Referral in Epic.  

The library offers families and caregivers use of computers with internet access, printing, faxing/scanning, and notary services at no charge. 

There is a small consultation room for use by families needing a quiet, private space to conduct personal business. 

Where is the Family Health Library located?
The library is on the 1st floor of the Medical Center North Tower next to the Child Life Zone. It is directly across 7th Street from the Dodson Specialty Clinics. 

The library is open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It is closed weekends and major holidays.

What is the Family Health Library history?
In 1997, the Matustik Family Resource Center opened with a generous gift from the Woman’s Board of Cook Children’s Medical Center. It was named in honor of Dr. Cassandra Matustik, M.D. (1949-1996), a Cook Children’s physician and advocate of family-centered medical information.
